After consuming 5 tons of steel and undergoing 17 processes, a semi-trailer was finally born!

Release time:2020-12-04popularity:2

We can see many semi-trailers on the road, including flatbed trailers, warehouse railings, container trailers, and abnormal trailers that are 13 meters, 15 meters, 17.5 meters, or even over 20 meters long. Do you know how these trailers are made?

Firstly, it is to purchase steel. The trailer is made of 4-5 tons of various types of steel welded together, and the main beam must be high-strength steel, usually supplied by large steel mills such as Baosteel.

Cutting: The purchased steel needs to be cut into various shapes according to the designed size, and many steels are cut accurately and efficiently using automated underwater plasma cutting machines.

Stamping: Using stamping machines and bending machines to press the web plates of the main beams, trailer crossbeams, edge beams, and columns.

Welding the main beam: The cut parts need to be welded together, and some large factories have already equipped automatic welding robots, which are fast and effective.

Skeleton assembly: The longitudinal beams, crossbeams, and edge beams of the trailer are welded together, and the skeleton of the trailer is basically completed.

Install suspension: Then start welding the suspension part of the trailer, which is the most critical part of the trailer's load-bearing capacity. It will be combined with the driving system later.

Bottom plate laying: Manually welding the bottom plate for trailers. Currently, there are mainly two types of plates: flat plates and patterned plates. The friction force of patterned plates is relatively high, and users can customize according to the characteristics of their goods.

Installing columns: If it is a warehouse trailer, the next step is to install columns. Some use screws for fixation, while others use direct welding, both of which have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Box panels and railings: This is a labor-intensive job, mostly done by manual welding. Some manufacturers also outsource these things to other processing plants for manufacturing.

Installation of door railings: After the various railings and doors are manufactured, they are welded to the trailer, and the appearance of the trailer is basically complete.

Installing support legs: The support legs are used for parking trailers, and most trailers do not manufacture these components themselves. They are mostly supplied by specialized manufacturers, such as Yoster.

Sandblasting and rust removal: Before painting, the trailer will be sandblasted to remove the rust on the trailer. After painting, it can greatly enhance the anti rust and corrosion ability of the trailer.

Spray painting: Paint trailers according to customer needs. Currently, most trailer factories use manual spray painting. A trailer needs to be painted 2-3 times, which is very dirty and tiring.

Axle installation: The trailer factory purchases trailer axles from manufacturers such as Fuhua and BPW, and then installs them on the trailer.

Tire installation: Tires are a major consumable for trailers, and purchasing users can generally specify a brand of tires or purchase their own tires for installation.

Circuit and pneumatic system: After installing the circuit, pneumatic system, and ABS brake debugging, a complete trailer was born.
